As of now, several development projects are completed or in progress; these improve the daily life of La Moskitia's inhabitants in Wampusirpi. The projects are focusedon three areas:

        Health

        Education

        Economical and social growth

   Escola

Healthcare

Surgery, cures, medical treatments… The SiD Moskitia foundation works to improve the medical assistance to the people within Wampusirpi (about 6000 people). There is currently a very small clinic, lacking in the major necessary equipment. The people who are in need of treatment must be brought to the nearest city by airplane, which is costly. For this reason we are currently formulating a plan to build a hospital in Wampusirpi.

Education

We have two main goals in educational programs:

- Create a scholarship program which will provide children with education from the beginning level up until the undergraduate level.  Every year we hope to educate hundreds of students.
- To improve the infrastructure of the educational system and to improve the quality of the education that the children receive.  We have made some progress toward this goal with the construction of a cement building that has a library, computer room, and internet access.  There is also a proposal waiting approval form the Honduras Government to build a new school in Wampusirpi.

Economical and Social Growth

The native people must be self-sufficient and independent; they must grow through their own capabilities. For this reason, different micro businesses and cooperative societies have been created to enhance the progression of their natural wealth.   Several of these small co-ops have been started and developed with the help of our donated equipment and training sessions.

-The agrarian cooperative Won Helpka joins 75% of the local rice and frijol producers. They have been contributing their work since the middle 1990's.

- The Plun Auhni is a group of women that produce banana and yuca fries, to sell in nearby towns.

- The Mairin Asla Daukanka Slilma Lakiaia group consists of artisan women that work with Tuno-tree bark and make several varied types of art.

- The honey production is currently in progress and will be fully established as soon as the training process is complete and an overseer is hired.  Honey will be cultivated and sold in the nearby towns as well.
